The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple (Psalm 19:7b).

Do you have questions?

Navigating through this dark and troubled world is difficult even for the most mature Christian, and impossible for those who do not trust in Christ. This is a hard statement, but the events of the past couple of weeks have served to demonstrate the need for the clear proclamation of God’s word to His people, so they may know how to live. And so that the lost may come to know Him.

These times have brought great concern to those who desire to please the Lord. How are we to understand this world, and live in it? How are we to understand our culture, and interact with it? How can I protect my family when the flood of sin from an immoral world angrily lashes at the foundation of my home, and threatens to destroy it in its torrent? The Bible has the answers to these difficult questions.

The Bible has answers!

The psalmist declares, “The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” The testimony of the Lord describes the word of God. In other words, the author asserts that the word of God is trustworthy and can be believed! Contrast this with current news headlines where it is impossible to discern the truth. In a world where nothing can be believed, God has given us a precious gift—His word the Bible!

We could stop there and be amazed, but there is more! King David completes this line by asserting that the testimony of the Lord makes wise the simple. The Bible imparts wisdom to the simple–minded! Those who walk in darkness are brought to the light through the word of God. This truth holds great promise in a dark world!  The wisdom which leads to salvation is imparted through the proclamation of God’s word!

At Grace Bible Church Gainesville, we desire to herald the message of the King in His word, so that the simple—and the worldly—can come to know Him. And, learn to live in the truth of His word.
