As you are probably aware, we have our second annual winter retreat coming up at Lake Swan Camp on January 7-9! That’s less than a month away! I pray you will choose to attend and take advantage of the beautiful setting at the lake. Whether you participate in every session and event, or only for one or two, I know you will find the time together edifying!

In celebrating GBC’s fifth anniversary, we have asked Justin McKitterick, Pastor of Grace Jax, to speak. Now, you may not personally know him, but God has used Justin to encourage our leadership during our first five years. I trust that his teaching will encourage you as well.

Let me give you a few compelling reasons to consider attending this retreat.

You need rest!

We are designing the schedule to allow time to spend with your family just to take a nap. I pray you will come and take full advantage of these times. Our goal is for you to leave the Lake Swan refreshed in the Lord.

You need to spend time with family and others you love!

At the camp, you may choose to talk as a family, go for a walk, or even go fishing. Whatever you decide, there are many opportunities to enjoy your spouse and children from the moment you arrive. If you are single, you can take advantage of this unique opportunity to spend time with the Lord and intentionally get to know other members better.

You need fellowship with the saints!

We arranged the schedule to allow ample opportunity to gather around food, games, and a warm fireplace or campfire. I have it on good authority that the retreat committee has planned cocoa and marshmallows around the fire. There may even be s’mores, and there will undoubtedly be lots of good coffee. You will need to watch your sugar and caffeine intake!

Seriously, if you choose to go, I am confident you will enjoy your time in this beautiful setting with the brethren. You won’t be able to leave the camp without getting to know them better.

You need time to pray and receive the truth of God’s word!

At the camp, you will have the time to spend with our Lord in prayer and meditation. These times may occur as you walk alone with the Lord through the woods or by the lake. There will be ample places to spend time alone in prayer and the word. You will also have the opportunity to learn from Justin and share how the Lord is using His truth to impact you with him and others. Lastly, the fellowship opportunities will deepen your prayer for the saints through your deepened relationships with them.

You need to apply the truth of God’s word in our lives!

Going to the GBC winter retreat will allow opportunities to discuss what you learn with your family and others who attend. Sharing with other believers will drive the word deep into your heart.

Will you consider attending the camp? Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you in your plans to go.

I hope to see you there!

Blessings!
