Family Matters, Part VII
Instructions to the Children and Parents – 6:1-4
In 6:1-4, Paul gives two crucial commands to the children and two to the fathers. As children, you are to:
I. Obey Your Parents
II. Honor Your Parents
As fathers (parents), you are (not) to:
III. Provoke your children
IV. Properly rear them
Quotes
Let no Christian parents fall into the delusion that Sunday School is intended to ease them of their personal duties. The first and most natural condition of things is for Christian parents to train up their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. – Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Beware of letting small faults pass unnoticed under the idea it is a little one. There are no little things in training children; all are important. Little weeds need plucking up as much as any. Leaven them alone and they will soon be great. – J.C. Ryle
