Donning the Armor, Part V

Speaker: Brandon Phillips Series: Preparing for Battle Category: Resisting Evil Scripture: Ephesians 6:13–17

Sermon Outline

In verse 13, Paul reiterates the urgency for the Christian to take up the full armor of God to be able to resist the evil of our day. In Ephesians 6:13-17, Paul gives six critical pieces of armor for resisting the evil one. You must prepare by:

    • Girding yourself with the belt of truth (6:14a)
    • Putting on the breastplate of righteousness (6:14b)
    • Shodding your feet to share the Gospel of Peace (6:15)
    • Taking up the shield of faith (6:16)
    • Taking up the helmet of salvation (6:17a)
    • Taking up the sword of the Spirit (6:17b)

Quotes

"The Bible could be trusted just as much as if God had taken the pen and written the words Himself." - John F. Walvoord.

"Leave not off reading the Bible till you find your hearts warmed. Read the word, not only as a history, but labor to be affected with it. Let it not only inform you, but inflame you. "Is not my word like a fire? saith the Lord": Jer 23:29. Go not from the word till you can say as those disciples, "Did not our hearts burn within us?" Lu 24:32." - Thomas Watson
