The Worthy Walk, Part II
Based on all that he has taught in chapters 1–3, Paul encourages the church at Ephesus to walk worthy of their calling (4:1) for the purpose of unity within the body of Christ. He gives three crucial characteristics of this worthy walk. You must:
- Personify Humility and Gentleness (4:2a)
- Practice Patience and Forbearance (4:2b)
- Preserve Unity and Peace (4:3)
Unity without the gospel is a worthless unity; it is the very unity of hell - J. C. Ryle
Humility and patience are the surest proofs of the increase of love – John Wesley
