The Hand of God or Men?
The Canon of Scripture
(Various Passages)
Here at GBC, we maintain that God the Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Old and New Testaments including superintending the formation of the canon. We believe that:
- The Holy Spirit Administered the formation of the Canon
- Jesus Affirmed the OT Canon
- Extrabiblical Sources Asserted the OT Canon
- The Early Church Acknowledged the OT Canon
- Jesus Authorized the NT Canon
- The Apostles Authored or Affirmed Each NT Book
- The Early Church Acknowledged the NT Canon
The doctrine of canonicity ultimately comes back to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. If we believe in Him and submit to His authority, then we will simultaneously believe in and submit to His Word – Nathan Busenitz
“We believe in the 39 books of the Old Testament, because our Lord Jesus Christ affirmed the Old Testament. And we believe in the 27 books of the New Testament, because our Lord Jesus Christ authorized His apostles to write the New Testament.” – Nathan Busenitz
