The Hand of God or Men?
The Inspiration of Scripture
(2 Peter 1:16–21)
In this text, Peter gives three arguments why you as a believer must trust the Bible. He asserts that the apostles were (not):
- Making up Fables (1:16a)
- Made Eyewitnesses (1:16b-18)
- Moved by the Spirit (1:19-21)
“With the aid of divine inspiration and the superintendence of the Holy Spirit in the giving of sacred Scripture, the writings of the Bible are free from the normal tendencies and propensities of fallen men to distort the truth - RC Sproul.
“The process of inspiration did not make the biblical writers automatons, for their books reveal differences of vocabulary, style and other matters of variation between one human author and another - RC Sproul.
